Kyoshi Randy Weekley grew up on a farm outside of Waterloo, Iowa. The
closest town in any direction was at least 10 miles away. His first
introduction to the martial arts was from the series "Kung Fu" starring
David Carradine. He would anxiously await the weekly episodes. He knew
that
the martial arts were something he wanted to pursue. Unfortunately,
being one of 6 children to a single mom in a very small town with no
martial arts teacher, it did not look like something he would be able
to do
soon.
He would have to make it happen when he could. Upon graduating high
school, he left for college to pursue a degree in criminal justice.
Here he was
able to join a martial arts club teaching Shorin Ryu Karate. After
graduating college he joined the La Porte police department. Being
young and wanting
to conquer the bad guys, he continued to search for a position with
a department in a larger city. He finally settled on Aurora, Co. During
his travels he continued his martial arts training, sampling different
styles before finding Ninpo Tai Jutsu. He first started teaching Ninpo
in the aerobics room of a health club in Aurora. He had found his true
calling. Leaving law enforcement behind, he taught at the club for
2 years
before opening the 1st of his dojos in Parker, CO in February of 1992.
Now many
years later, he is the Chief Instructor of 2 schools of his own in Colorado & travels
the world as a guest of many different Martial Arts dojos. As well as
his own dojos, he helps to oversee dojos in Thailand, and Mexico. In
addition, Kyoshi
Weekley is the defensive tactics instructor for several law enforcement
agencies.
"
Through 'NIN" patience and perserverance I have achieved a goal that
I dreamed of many years ago sitting in that old farmhouse in front of the
TV, watching Kung Fu. So for all of you, DO NOT give up on your dreams.
Even when things seem to always go wrong, or become difficult, DO NOT give
up. Just be true to yourself and your art. Thank you for listening. " Kyoshi
